We recently had another awesome team member join our  Twenty Over Ten family. We love our Meet the Team series, so we can give you a chance to see who is behind all of the work that we do. The reason that we are able to work so effectively and efficiently is due to the multiple backgrounds that we all come from and the way that we can collaborate and work so well together.

Recently we had the opportunity to catch up with Maya Shaw-Faber, who works as a web designer. As part of the Twenty Over Ten team, Maya is one of the designers that helps to make sure our client’s have a top-notch digital presence.

To start, how did you get your start in web design?

I took my first web design class in college at Parsons in New York City, and loved it from the start. I would stay up late learning as much as I could and making sites just for fun. I then interned at Twenty Over Ten before starting full time.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A ballerina, a mermaid, and a witch.

How would you describe your “perfect” day…either at work or on a day off?

A perfect day involves sleeping in, eating donuts, a Harry Potter marathon, online shopping, ordering in, changing into different pajamas, and back to bed.

What is your favorite type of project to work on?

Every site I work on at Twenty Over Ten is different, because every client is different. I like trying to match the design of the website to the client and their personality. I particularly enjoy working with women, because they often have a different approach to the site design than men.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?

I visited Tokyo a few years ago with my brother, Ari. I could see myself living there for a year; eating sushi out of bento boxes, petting puppies at dog cafes, shopping in the Harajuku district, and frolicking in cherry blossoms.

What are your favorite things to do when you are not working?

When I’m not working, I like to read my overdue library books (One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories; Egghead: Or, You Can’t Survive on Ideas Alone), watch movies (Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman), listen to podcasts and stand up (36 Question, John Mulaney), watch TV (Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm), and play with my dog (George).

Do you have any pets? If so, what are they and what are their names?

I have a little poodle named George. She is the love of my life.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you want to have with you?

George, phone, and wifi. And a charger. And dog food. Also a toothbrush?

What is your favorite food?

I mainly subsist on candy and donuts and pizza. Please don’t tell my mom.

Where do you see yourself in the next ten years?
