At Twenty Over Ten, we want you to have the chance to get to know the people you’re working with through our Meet the Team blog series. All of our team members are an essential and awesome addition to the company, so we love getting to know a little more about them!
Recently we chatted with our new digital marketing assistant, Blair Kelly. At Twenty Over Ten, Blair is a member of our marketing team and works closely with our associate director of digital marketing. She often spends her time writing blog posts, managing the Twenty Over Ten social media accounts, creating newsletters and other email communications.
Your background is in public relations, how did you get started in that field?
I was working in first grade at Saint Raphael Catholic School and got a summer job at a local PR firm, French West Vaughan. I really enjoyed it, so from there, I continued to work as an “intern,” before I was hired at MMI Public Relations (now BAERING). I completely left teaching and worked at MMI for five years.
If you were given a free plane ticket, where would you go and why?
There are so many places that I would want to go, but I think I would go to Australia during the time of the Australian Open! I have never been there and would love to go, and I love tennis, so I would get to see both!
What’s your go-to cup of coffee?
I am not a huge coffee drinker, so when I do have one, it’s usually just a plain coffee with milk and sugar.
What is your favorite type of project to work on?
So far, being at Twenty Over Ten, I enjoy writing blogs, as I wrote a lot of press releases and pitches at MMI/BAERING. At my most recent job, I enjoyed team collaboration and working on things for clients that had a lot of moving pieces where we could bounce ideas off of each other.
What flavor of ice cream describes your personality?
Bubble gum ice cream is my favorite and it’s kind of a hard flavor to find. I could say this could describe me, as well, because I am generally a positive person and have a “bubbly” personality once you get to know me.
How do you keep yourself motivated throughout the week?
I enjoy taking my dogs on jogs in the morning or my daughter, Grey in her stroller to start off my day. It always gets me off on the right foot. We have a lot of great trails in our neighborhood, so it makes it fun. I try to work around her nap schedule, so I feel motivated to get my work done efficiently so that I can hang out with her when she is awake.
What 5 books would you take to a deserted island?
I really loved the book, “The Help,” so that would definitely be a “go-to” book for me. I enjoyed the the Hunger Game books, so that would be “The Hunger Games,” “Catching Fire” and “Mockingjay.” Do magazines count? If so, I would bring “Runner’s World Magazine” for my fifth book.
What are your passions outside of work?
I love going to the beach and mountains. I like hiking with my husband and daughter, Grey, and our two dogs, Boone and Panda. I enjoy playing tennis, snowboarding and jogging, as well.
