We love our Meet the Team series so we can give you an opportunity to meet the people behind our work. Each member is vital to our growth, as teamwork is ingrained in everything we do. We are so excited to add another person to the family and we’re sure that once you get to know our team members, you’ll love them just as much as we do!
Recently we had the opportunity to catch up with Makayla Pusey. If you have ever called or sent us a general email you’ve likely interacted with Makayla at some point. As client relations manager, Makayla is the friendly voice on the other end of the phone ensuring our clients are satisfied and taken care of.
Working in design and marketing has helped Makayla to thrive in her current position, and while it may seem different from what we do, she owes much of her success to working in retail as this has helped her to be able to connect with our customers and clients on a number of different levels.
To start, where are you from originally and where do you currently live?
I am originally from a small town called West Decatur, but I now currently live in State College, PA. I never would have imagined my go-to shopping stores, grocery stores, or even gas stations would ever be right at my fingertips!
What did you do before joining the Twenty Over Ten team?
I worked at Lezzer Design Center as a Kitchen/Bath Designer and controlled all marketing efforts in that specific location. Designing was never something I thought I would do or be into, but after experiencing the role, I grew to love it. It is something I am really interested in, and look forward to involving myself in that area once again in the future.
How do you feel your experience has shaped your role and the work that you do in your current position?
I owe it largely to working in retail for the past five years as I have been in contact with a variety of customers in different categories. I love to work and help others, so assisting others in their needs/wants is and has always been my favorite part about my job.
What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my niece and nephews, as well as family and friends. I’m so excited to say I will be gaining a third nephew in June! I also enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and anything involving water.
Do you have any pets? If not, what would you like to have down the road?
I have a German Shepherd, named Rex. My siblings and I have been surrounded by German Shepherds our entire lives; it’s all we know. My Dad has been in the National Guard for 42 years, and is a Chief Warrant Officer 5. It’s in his blood (and ours, of course) to have a deep passion for those specific breeds.
If you could travel anywhere right now, where would it be?
If we’re talking about a previous destination, I would love to travel to Puerto Rico again. Ever since I went last March, it has always been a place I frequently think about. If I had to pick a brand new location, I would choose Greece. I would love to take in all that it has to offer through the history, people, views, and beaches.
How do you destress after a really busy day?
Reading a book while taking a long hot bath with a glass of wine always does the trick! Or binge watching HGTV when I can.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years, I see myself married (fingers crossed) with lots and lots of children. I also see myself owning a business, building wells, and traveling to as many new destinations as possible.
What has been your favorite part about working at Twenty Over Ten?
My favorite part of working at Twenty Over Ten, is being able to work with the core team. I have the privilege of working in house with the founders of this incredible company. The environment is so friendly, welcoming, and full of inspiration. They truly value their employees, their employee’s families, as well as their clients.
