This week in the “Meet the Team” series, we had the opportunity to talk with Twenty Over Ten’s newest website designer, Chelsea Casareale. Chelsea works closely with financial advisors to build beautiful and customized websites using our recently unveiled app, V2. She has quickly proven to be a valuable member of our team and we are excited to share a little more about Chelsea!
1. Where do you consider home?
New York City! I grew up in the tri-state area, but I just moved back from a six-year stint in St. Louis, Missouri. I went to Washington University in St. Louis for college and then spent two years post-grad working at the medical school doing research. So I do have some nostalgia for that area (St. Louis) as well.
2. What were you up to before joining Twenty Over Ten?
I was a biologist working in academic research. I assisted the graduate student conducting behavioral research. I’m published if anyone is ever curious about sensory processing in weakly electric fish! Here’s the link for the paper. The title is a doozy!
3. How did you get into design?
I was always a creative kid, though less so in a fine arts manner. I’d also like to give a shout-out to my mom for having a wonderful sense of design and passing that onto me! However, as my previous answer implies, I decided to pursue biology as a career instead. After a few years; however, I realized I needed to rethink. As much as I loved biology, it’s a long process before anything tangible comes of it. When I began to reassess my career path I realized that I could combine my eye for good design with my love of technology and accrued Adobe Suite skills into a career in design and development!
4. What drew you to Twenty Over Ten?
I was drawn to Twenty Over Ten in particular because we’re really on the cutting edge. When Ryan and Nick (Twenty Over Ten’s co-founders) demoed the platform for me I knew it would be a great tool to efficiently create modern, beautiful sites. As they say, time is money! I always want to be surrounded by people who are thinking of “the next big thing,” and the Twenty Over Ten team definitely fit the bill.
5. What is your favorite holiday and why?
Christmas. I know it sounds cheesy, but growing up in the Northeast there’s nothing better than a snowy Christmas with all your family and some hot cocoa.
6. Are you currently binge watching any shows? What’s your favorite TV show?
I’m honestly pretty horrible about serial TV, but I do admittedly watch an unhealthy amount of HGTV and Bravo reality shows. Ever since Fixer Upper came around I’ve probably seen every episode more than once. I do also love House Hunters and its International and Renovation spin-offs. I love seeing different parts of the US/world! Also, I’m a sucker for the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I wouldn’t call it good TV, but it’s highly entertaining!
7. If you had to sing karaoke, what would be your go-to song?
Really just anything by Lady Gaga. Applause, Paparazzi, and Perfect Illusion are some of my favorites.
8. What has been the coolest trip that you’ve gone on?
San Juan, Puerto Rico. My mom’s family is from the island and it was amazing to see where they came from.
9. What is your favorite inspirational quote?
“Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.” – Jim Rohn
10. What would your ‘perfect day’ consist of?
I would love to be in a warm climate (that February ‘sick of winter’ feeling has fully set in) with all my friends being able to enjoy a relaxing day, just enjoying nature. Oh and definitely some Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked.
Thanks for sharing with us, Chelsea! We really enjoy working with you and loved learning more about you!
