At Twenty Over Ten, we love the opportunity to showcase our Meet the Team series so we can give you a chance to meet the awesome people behind the work that we do. Each member is essential to our growth, as we pride ourselves in having great teamwork. We are so excited to add another person to the family and we’re sure that once you get to know our team members, you’ll love them just as much as we do!

Recently we had the opportunity to catch up with communications specialist, Shannon Hartsoe. As part of the Twenty Over Ten team, Shannon is one of our amazing creators and works to produce content for our clients.

To start, what is your title at Twenty Over Ten and what does that role entail?

My title is communications specialist — I write copy for our clients’ websites.

Where were you born and where are you living now?

I was born in California in the Central Valley (about two hours south of San Francisco) and now live just outside Raleigh in North Carolina.

They probably all vary, but what is a typical day like for you at Twenty Over Ten?

I split my time between writing, participating in copy calls and editing. It’s important that I get to know each client so their copy paints the most accurate picture of their business as possible. While financial advisors have similarities, it’s crucial that I understand their unique value proposition and communicate it effectively to their target audience.

What has been your favorite project that you have worked on?

For Twenty Over Ten, it’s been helping one of our clients tell their unique story. The founder of the company is a former professional football player, who helped lead a team to a Superbowl championship. In my career, I’d have to say working on a Lenovo ad campaign that ran in USA Today.

What is your favorite part about working at Twenty Over Ten?

I enjoy helping financial advisors modernize their content and seeing how pleased they are with the finished product.

How do you like to unwind after a long day at work?

I’m trying to get back into yoga, I read, cook and I hang out with my family. An important part of the culture at Twenty Over Ten is work/life balance. Because we all work remotely, I have no commute, and can structure my day any way I wish as long as I’m available to our clients, which means I have more time to do the things that are important to me.

What are some things that you like to do on your free time/weekends?

I love the Farmers Market, the beach, perusing bookstores. My youngest son and I had a garden last summer, maybe it’s not too late to get that started again this year.

What is the best trip that you have ever taken and where was it?

The day after Christmas 2016 my family and I took a spontaneous trip to New York City. It was crazy and magical and very cold.

Do you have any pets? If so, what kind?

Yep. We have a 1 1/2 year old border collie mix named Sam and a 5-year-old tortoise shell cat, Rue.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I’ve been working on a novel for a few years. It’s about a young couple and the challenges they face when their baby is born terminally ill. Not perky but at least the ending is happy. Hopefully, my book will be done by then and I’ll be living in the country with a small menagerie of farm animals. Or touring Europe.
