As a close-knit team, we would be nowhere without the enthusiasm and dedication from each of our team members. That is why every couple of weeks we like to showcase everyone’s unique background to give you a glimpse into who we are.

This week we had the pleasure of speaking with Lauren Keeports. As a member of the Twenty Over Ten marketing team, Lauren works closely with data capture, newsletter development, social media and blogging on behalf of Twenty Over Ten. She also dabbles in client content strategy; working one-on-one with financial advisors to develop marketing strategies and create tailored content for their websites. Read on to learn more about Lauren:

Where are you originally from?
Born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania!

What made you get into the field of marketing, and specifically digital media marketing?
I was actually planning on becoming an accountant, but had landed an internship on the account management team for a digital marketing company. They tasked me with several marketing analytics projects which was an area that I had never really worked in before- but I ended up loving it! I hadn’t realized how quantitative and analytical marketing could be. So, I changed my major from accounting to marketing with a focus in marketing analytics the following Fall!
That’s definitely an interesting point about marketing! So, what is your favorite part about working with Twenty Over Ten? And the most challenging?
My favorite part about working with Twenty Over Ten is definitely the team! Everyone is so focused and hard-working, as well as just genuinely enjoyable to be around. The team’s dynamic is so motivating. Each person brings something different to the table and the leadership is really good at leveraging each person’s unique strengths, as well as listening to everyone’s ideas. The most challenging aspect is probably staying on top of all of the digital media marketing trends. Technology is ever-changing and we always want to stay ahead of the curve in order to best serve our clients.

Do you have any “morning rituals” to get you started with your day? How do you stay motivated and inspired?
Drinking coffee and listening to music are really the only morning rituals that I have. I’m not a morning person at all, so the caffeine and a couple of upbeat songs help wake me up a bit! My main daily motivation is probably just my to do list (as dull as that sounds). My lists help me stay organized and by having an outline of what I need to accomplish that day, it helps motivate me to get it done. Nothing’s more satisfying than crossing an item off your to do list!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years … or where would you hope to see yourself?
Professionally, I see myself in ten years with a career in consulting somewhere along the east coast. Personally, I see myself married with kids. Who knows though! I enjoy taking each day as it comes and am definitely willing to take chances as new opportunities arise.
What was one key take-away from being a part of the marketing team at Twenty Over Ten?
The main thing that I took away from working on the marketing team at Twenty Over Ten is probably the importance of adaptability. The digital marketing industry is changing and growing so quickly, and it’s imperative that we change and grow with it. Also, as a smaller team, I’ll often be tasked with a variety of assignments- some of which aren’t necessarily in my wheelhouse. But it’s important to be able to wear a lot of hats when necessary and to learn from those experiences.

Very true! So what has been your favorite place you traveled to? Where do you wish to travel to someday?
Spain- hands down! I spent about two weeks traveling through several cities there and it was definitely the best trip I have ever taken. I spent seven years studying the language in school and grew such an appreciation for the culture. The country is beautiful, the food is amazing, and each city truly has its own identity. I highly recommend visiting to anyone who has the chance! As for the future, I don’t really have any one specific place in mind. I love traveling in general, so regardless if it’s tropical getaway, a historical excursion, or a big city trip- I’m all in!

Do you have any role models or people you look up to? Who are they and how have they impacted you?
My mom and dad are definitely my role models. They are truly amazing, hard-working people (though I may be a little biased 😉). My parents have both set such good examples personally and professionally for my brother and me. They sacrificed a lot for us and I’ll probably always feel indebted to them! What is your favorite book? Movie? Why?
Hmm … I don’t think I have a favorite book, but I usually enjoy anything by Jodi Picoult or James Patterson. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite movie too because there are so many that I love, but Freedom Writers and Coach Carter come to mind first. They’re such uplifting, inspiring movies and I’ve seen them countless times, but I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of them!

If you can have dinner with anyone in the world (real or fictional) who would you choose to have dinner with? And where would you guys be eating?
Oh geez, that’s a tough one. I think I’d choose someone like Sheryl Sandberg or Mark Cuban. I’d love to pick their brains about business, technology, politics- anything really! For dinner, I’d choose Carr’s Restaurant from back home in Lancaster. I ordered filet mignon with a side of lobster mac and cheese my first time there and fell in love. I’d probably eat that meal everyday if I could!

Thank you for taking the time to chat with us, Lauren. We’re so happy to have you as a part of our team!
