We’re kicking off 2021 with our first “Meet the Team” blog of the month, and today we’re excited to speak with Client Support Specialist, Brian Reynolds. Brian has been an incredible asset to Twenty Over Ten as he speaks to clients all the time to help them fix their issues. In a fast-paced world, people like to get things done quickly and Brian helps them to do just that.
From his “facts of the week” that he shares with us to his sense of humor, he has been a great part of our team both internally and externally. Read on to learn more about him!
First, tell us where you’re from and where you live now
I was born and raised just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. After high school, I moved to Ocala, Florida where I still live now with my wife and our two kids.
As a client support specialist, you get to communicate with people on a daily basis. Can you tell us the most rewarding part of your job? Do you have any moments that have really stood out to you so far?
A lot of our customers are not technically inclined, so even the smallest fix can feel like a monumental task to them. Even though it is usually a quick fix for a member of our team, it can feel like a major weight off the shoulders of the advisor, and it is rewarding to take that stress off of their plate so that they can continue to focus on the bigger picture.
Even though every day looks different, could you describe what a “typical” day at work entails for you?
My kids usually get me up around 6:00. After I get them ready and drop them off at school, I either take the extra time in the morning to hike a few miles at one of the few trailheads near my home, or I try to sneak in an extra 30 mins of sleep.
When I sit down at my desk, I check to see if I have any open tickets that need to be closed from the previous day. The majority of my day is spent monitoring and answering inquiries from our website customers. These are usually technical, but they can sometimes be related to marketing techniques or even highlighting bugs in our platform. Our team also provides one on one consultations, DNS Consultations, and website launch walkthroughs throughout the day as well.
As the main point of contact for our Compliance Core platform, I also communicate with compliance officers, answering technical questions and providing onboarding calls.
What types of activities do you enjoy outside of work? Have you picked up any new hobbies during the pandemic?
My daughter is two years old and my son is seven months, so when I am not working I am usually “dadding,” and “dadding” hard. One of my favorite activities is making breakfast for the family on the weekends. I am also working on finishing my bachelor’s degree in business administration, so that takes up a lot of my time, as well.
When I do find some free time, I enjoy hiking on the Florida Trail, and I have set a goal for this year of reading at least nine new books. Other than that, any alone time I get to spend with my wife is as precious as gold. Also sleeping.
What types of music do you like to listen to? If we were to get a glimpse at your Spotify playlist, what artists would we be seeing?
I like to think I have a pretty eclectic taste when it comes to music. The particular playlist I pick really depends on my mood, but I almost have something playing because I can’t really concentrate in complete silence. Lofi hip hop or modern folk music is my go-to when I am working or studying.
I keep a playlist dedicated to orchestral cinema soundtracks that I really enjoy and also have playlists that I am constantly building for my children. This is something that I plan to gift them as they grow older and includes songs that remind me of certain memories or music that communicates the feelings of fatherhood that I am not able to myself.
To me, music and food are the last forms of universal communication.
We’re big sports fans at Twenty Over Ten. Can you tell us who your favorite team is and which sport you enjoy watching the most?
Despite growing up in Georgia, I have been a Clemson Tigers fan since birth, which has been a good thing for the last few seasons!
I really enjoy sports in general, people can come together from any number of varied backgrounds to follow the stories and dramas being played out in front of them on the field or the pitch. It can mean a lot more than Xs and Os to people.
I follow college football very closely, but I also follow baseball and Premier League soccer, as well.
Since our vacation plans have been significantly reduced in 2020, are there any particular places that you would like to visit once traveling becomes safe again?
My wife speaks Italian and Spanish and has spent time living abroad in Europe. I would love to see those places with her as my tour guide, not only because she would know the best places to go, but frankly I would feel much safer with her there!
What is the best gift that you have ever received?
Under normal circumstances I would say my children…but my wife gifted me a cast iron flat top griddle and frankly that has brought my breakfast game up at least three levels.
But uh yeah….my children.
If you could have one superpower, what would you choose and why?
I would love to be able to freeze time. I would use it to take naps without losing time in the day.
What has been your favorite part about working at Twenty Over Ten, so far?
Without a doubt it has been the team at Twenty Over Ten. I have never before been in a work environment that felt less like work and more like I was just enjoying the company of friends.
There are so many opportunities here to learn, not just applicable technical and marketing skills, but about yourself. I am very much looking forward to my future here.
