So far, 2019 is off to a great start here at Twenty Over Ten! We’re full swing into things and have already got the opportunity to take some advisor websites live, for which we are extremely grateful.
As we like to do every couple of weeks, we are going to dive into the details of what it was like working with us to build an advisor website. This week, we got to speak with Matt Powers, president and founder at Powers Advisory Group. As a fiduciary, fee-only based firm, they take a team approach to ensuring that their clients receive the best advice possible.
Tell us a bit more about Powers Advisory Group and how you got your start.
The firm was started 4 years ago. I worked as an advisor for my entire professional career beginning in 2002 for brokerage firms including Edward Jones and Citigroup / Smith Barney. I had gotten to the point in my career that I wanted the ability to provide investment advice without any conflicts of interest so I made the choice to become fully independent as an RIA and I’ve never turned back since. The single greatest career choice that I’ve personally made. Melissa, our head of operations was with me since inception and Rick who is an owner in the firm joined as a partner a little over a year ago. We work as a team on all client relationships.
We love the simplicity of the black and white color palette that you chose to use on your new website. What inspired you to go this route?
Financial planning and investing can be complicated to most, so we’ve always tried to maintain a simplistic view so our clients can wrap their “mental arms” around their financial picture. This follows suit with the simple, clean look of black and white with some color pop from our logo.
Going into your website redesign project we understand that you were looking for a fresh new look and strategic calls to action (CTAs). Do you feel this was accomplished and have you noticed an uptick in inquiries from prospects since adding these elements to your new site?
The site is still relatively new so we can’t say that inquiries have increased, however giving anyone that views our site the opportunity to contact us easily was important. We’re using the site as a hub for all things…accessing accounts, market commentary, blog, etc.
Having previously worked with another website provider we’d love to hear more about what made Twenty Over Ten’s capabilities stand out from the other providers you researched.
We are VERY pleased with the entire process of Twenty Over Ten compared to others. Very detail oriented and creative. The back end of being able to make changes easily works great for us.
What made you the happiest when working with the Twenty Over Ten team?
The extremely quick response time, our initial design updates were complete within 24 hours.
We are huge fans of FAQ sections and are thrilled to see you have on your resources page. Since incorporating this on your website, have you noticed that doing so has helped to cut down on calls and emails requesting the same information?
Again, the site is still relatively new and we will be adding many more FAQs as time goes on.
We see that you’re just getting started on your social media presence as well, that’s great! Tell us more about your plans for your firm’s’ digital marketing strategy moving forward.
We plan to incorporate Facebook, Twitter, Linked, etc. but not too frequent as we don’t want to water down our social media plan. We have a lot of local clients, but many throughout the country and this is an easy, effective way to communicate our message to all.
We love receiving feedback so we can improve our process. Do you have any suggestions that you think would have made your site development process easier?
We think you guys do a great job, there really isn’t anything that I can poke holes at.
What is your best piece of advice that you would share with other advisors who may be considering redesigning their website?
Review samples from the provider’s you are considering. This is what got us on board…the current look and feel of your sites.
