It’s Thursday, which means the weekend is almost here, and it’s time for another financial advisor showcase blog. For this one, we got to chat with Mark K Vigil, CIMA®, managing director and senior portfolio manager at Tailwind Wealth Advisors.

Built on the Iris framework, Tailwind Wealth Advisors has created a beautiful website to best serve their clients and prospects. To find out more about how they market their firm, their unique name and what is in their tech stack, check out the rest of the blog.

Framework

Iris

1. You have extensive experience in the financial services industry. We’d love to hear more about your history and how Tailwind came about.

I am a cyclist/triathlete and things are always better when the wind is at your back. A tailwind is nice for everyone in all aspects of life!

2.What’s in a name – tell us more about the meaning behind the Tailwind name.

The above question answers the idea behind the name. I was at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley for 20 years and always knew going independent was in my future. I’m not a corporate guy and never was spoon-fed accounts or pushed product so it was natural to move to independence.

3.Let’s talk about the tech stack for your firm. We see you’re using eMoney for your client portal. What other must-have tools help you run your business smoothly?

In terms of tools that I use, eMoney and Ring Central along with an iPhone have made things much easier. However, eMoney has been the best addition for us, so far.

4. Having a strong bio is a critical piece of an advisor’s website. We love how you’ve chosen a more playful, humorous tone with your bio. How did you go about crafting the copy for your website? Any helpful tips for those who might be considering writing their own website copy?

I went from the standard “tough guy,” investment guy bio to a more playful approach due to an article I read that I read from Twenty Over Ten!

About Us

5. What is the best piece of advice that you have ever received and how have you applied it to your advisory firm?

I would say the best advice that I have ever received is to treat your clients well, as this is how you would like you would want to be treated.

6. COVID-19 completely changed the way that we connect with not only prospects but also clients and other businesses. How did you pivot during this time and how do you plan to move forward as the world reopens and things return to normal?

I was able to talk and meet with clients/prospects and open a new business.  Zoom was an addition but not one I like or anyone else.

7. If you could share one piece of advice with other advisors looking to revamp their website what would it be?

I looked around at a lot of different providers. Go with the one where you can see a good fit and good flexibility and long-term support which Twenty Over Ten does. Ironically, I was FMG Suite before I found you via Ochseli before the buyout.

8. You are a 5-time iron man, which is an amazing accomplishment! How does your life outside of work influence how you run your business?

I get to surf, bike and golf with clients, it’s the best of both worlds so they do blend together very nicely!
