For any great website design, it is important to understand what the user ultimately experiences when viewing your site. For your site, consider asking yourself the following questions: is your main purpose clear? is the site easily accessible (i.e. through different platforms such as mobile devices)? is it easy to navigate through the website? are there distinct points of direction?

This week, I had the pleasure of speaking with Steve Guzmán from Guzmán Wealth Management. Steve was able to give me some great insight into the website design process when working with us, here at Twenty Over Ten. According to Steve, “I took a psychological approach when deciding how I wanted my website to look. I realized that for the user, simplicity is key. So when working with the design team, I made sure to achieve just that: a sleek, straight- forward website that was easy to navigate.”

Right on the homepage, Guzmán Wealth Management immediately exemplifies to its viewers their main purpose: “Working to manage life’s financial transitions.” With a static tab bar on the left, users can easily navigate through each of the different points without getting lost on the page. As they explore each tab, the user is greeted with aesthetic landscape pictures of mountains, boats, or traditional buildings. This portrays a sense of relaxation and peace of mind, which is a response that Guzmán hoped to achieve from his viewers.

When talking with Steve about the design process, he brought up a very important point. Before even developing content or deciding on a theme, Steve told us, “I needed to understand- what are my clients and future clients looking for? What do they want to see on a financial advisor’s website page?” What he then realized was that simplicity was key to portray his overall purpose.


Especially on his Planning Process page, we can see the simplistic approach to his financial planning system. Each tab exemplifies the step process while providing short and straightforward, yet imperative information. This “less is more” approach has proven to be extremely successful. According to Steve, “I’ve been receiving some very positive feedback from people. Everyone loves the site and its classic theme.”

For Steve, the simple site truly demonstrates his service to current clients and new potential ones. When working with the design team, he also found that the overall design process when working with us here at Twenty Over Ten was straightforward and easy. He mentioned to us:
